However you choose to label it, it was all created by mankind with the intent of controlling the masses. These are nothing more than dogmatic terminologies meant to suppress or control. And they are ALL false.
The existence of karma is particularly a very controversial topic within the spiritual community - often to the point that the rejection of the karma concept is perceived as blasphemous.
The modern day "what goes around comes around" interpretation of karma is nothing more than a Judeo-Christian mutilation of an Eastern concept. Effectively inserting a god where there wasn’t one before.
Everyone in the West has a notion that the Universe firmly knows right from wrong, good from evil. Worse yet, people sometimes avoid standing up for themselves in fear of negative universal retribution. But sit back for a second and think about it: why would a Universe that's ever growing and ever expanding come up with such a black and white distinction of what's right and wrong?
After all, we all know some people think it's gravely wrong to eat pork - yet most of the world eats it with no repercussions or guilt. Others believe premarital sex is gravely wrong - yet people are happily screwing away with no repercussions or guilt. It's all a matter of personal perspective.
The common theme here is a personal belief structure. If you believe eating pork or having premarital sex will lead to negative consequences, and keep obsessing about it, inevitably something undesirable will happen.
And when something as silly as a parking violation happens to you, your brain will automatically assume "it must be karma!" or "God must be upset with me!". Just stop. The Universe/God/Karma has nothing to do with it.
The universe does not have a celestial evaluator: a god that reprimands and returns your actions. The concept that karma is some kind of universal evaluation or judgement is simply false. If karma existed, mankind would have been exterminated a long time ago.
This exact philosophy holds true when it comes to magick. If you believe that you are partaking in a suitable, justified action, then relax in the knowing that you are on your right path.
A true witch does not let society define his/her path. The Universe isn't black and white. There is no right and wrong. There is only energy and emotion. Stay true to yourself, even if it means mixing the shades.
The 3-Fold Lie & The Wiccan Rede: Lies of New Age Witchcraft
Gerald Gardner is internationally renowned as "The Father of Wicca" - a religion many people nowadays associate with witchcraft. He was the "groundbreaking" mover & shaker of the spiritual scene in 1940's/1950's and a follower of Aleister Crowley's work. Gerald Gardner saw the power in Crowley's work but was eager to make it more "consumer friendly" by highlighting the peaceful Pagan aspects of the practice and intertwining Greek and Celtic mythology. Based on his personal religious views, he concocted a little poem titled 'The Wiccan Rede', which states whatever you send out comes back to you. If you're at all familiar with Aleister Crowley's writings, you'll see the Wiccan Rede is essentially a Scrabble game of Crowley's work. Inserting dogma and fear where there wasn't any before. The exact same holds true for the 'Threefold Law'. Gerald Garner’s dogmatic approach to witchcraft created the the new age religion known as Wicca. In Wicca, magickal actions involving manipulative magick became taboo and strongly frowned upon. Punishment and external celestial validation of right vs. wrong was once again the order of the day.
Make no mistake, Wicca is not an ancient practice. It's a new age religion. But it is one that is readily available in the developed world and often serves as a stepping stone to new witches. Those that discover the shallow and faulty principles of Wicca often dig deeper - discovering the academic study of the occult and the various branches of worldly witchcraft. As a result, this broader study of Witchcraft broadens the horizon of the Witch and deepen the magickal experiences.
ALL Magick Is Manipulative Magick - Embrace It!
All magick, all physical action, and the very act of breathing is in itself manipulation. You manipulate energy, you manipulate air, you physically manipulate the real-world experience around you -- and that's true even without magick!
Cursing and healing. Left hand path and right hand path. Black and white. Desiring and repelling. They are all part of the same circle. All interlocking forms of spiritual, magickal and transformational work. Human energies in the spiritual, coming into the material world through perfectly natural means.
Manipulating love is no different than manipulating money -- after all, the money must come from somewhere. This doesn't need to be a Robin Hood situation of taking money away from one group to feed another. Understand that the simple act of accepting a job offer could very well be an act of denying another person that very same opportunity.
Whether you consciously wanted this person to not get the job doesn’t matter -- the same physical and emotional response will be emitted by the other party. In the same manner, a Christian's prayer to God for a lover to return is essentially a (weak) version of a love spell. By placing the ultimate decision making on the shoulders of an "exterior" being is simply semantics.
Separating magick into right versus wrong, black versus white, evil versus good, is not only a narrow-minded task, but it narrows your scope of universal understanding and the greater reality. Nothing and no one is judging you but you. Learn to love yourself, stand up for yourself and know that you are a limitless being.
Making peace with the world and our magickal practice begins with our mind. Just as the moon can illuminate the dark, the rays from the sun can leave a deadly burn. The circle of life does not exist of right and wrong, black and white, good and evil. The circle of life is a never ending array of colors, shades and experiences.
If you BELIEVE that what you're doing is wrong, that's a whole different story. Once you believe what you're doing is wrong and against your highest good, the energy you've created around yourself (note: YOU are creating the energy!) will inevitably create negative circumstances.
If, however, you feel justified by your magickal actions, you can rest safe and sound knowing that nothing (not you, not the Universe, and definitely not karma) is conspiring against you.
We're not advocating hexing every person who cuts you off in traffic -- but truth be told, most people who are bothered by such trivial things can't gather the power for such revenge work anyway.
Effective Witches know their power is valuable and shouldn't be wasted on such inconsequential pursuits.
Relax. The world is a lot nicer than you think.
All we ask is for an open mind, an open heart and the understanding the world isn't black & white. As people who have crossed the borders between light and dark, we (and all the other practitioners in the world) can assure you that you have nothing to worry about. Keep your spirit high, stand proud and believe in yourself and your cause.
The Universe isn't black and white. There is no right and wrong.
There is only energy and emotion.
Stay true to yourself, even if it means mixing the shades.
