Black Walnut Shell Powder has been used for over 300 years (that we know of) in Eastern European Witchcraft. This multi-purpose powder is used for a variety of applications and is typically utilized by mixing with water, salt or honey. Traditionally, it is boiled in a cauldron with water and Agrimony Powder and used as a bathing rinse to banish energetic attachments, end bad luck and heal a broken heart.
Black Walnut Water Recipe:
We recommend adding 2 teaspoons of the Organic Black Walnut Shell Powder to 1 gallon of water. Bring to a boil, then allow to simmer until the water has been reduced by half. Add 1 teaspoon of Agrimony Powder and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat. At this point you may add 1/4 cup of sea salt - this step is optional but is highly recommended. Allow to cool to room temperature.
Old World Witchcraft is more than a practice. It's the Witch, the Earth and the Energy. Magick in its purest, most elemental form. It allows total freedom of magickal expression and limitless choices. It is the shortest, most intense, and direct route to understanding your own power.
Occasionally, witches and spiritualists from the so-called "White Light" path like to label and criticize others decisions or life choices. They argue that manipulative - or what they refer to as 'black magick' - is wrong. Hint: the Law of 3 is an entirely made up concept. It it nothing more than 1950's paganism, propagated by miserable new age books.
Do you think energetic or emotional manipulation in black magick? All magick, all physical action, and the very act of breathing is in itself manipulation. You manipulate energy, you manipulate air, you physically manipulate the real-world experience around you -- and that's true even without magick!
Cursing and healing. Left hand path and right hand path. Black and white. Desiring and repelling. They are all part of the same circle. All interlocking forms of spiritual, magickal and transformational work. Human energies in the spiritual, coming into the material world through perfectly natural means.
How do you know if you're cursed? On a daily basis, we receive the "Am I cursed?" question. I want to assure you that genuine curses are extremely rare. Simply put, very few practicing Witches have the skill and energetic endurance to go through such a tiring ritual! Curses aren't fun, nor are they easy.
But what if you're experiencing unpleasant things you can't explain? Sure, one may believe they are experiencing just a streak of bad luck -- but if on the rare occasion the streak is unusually long or persistent, here are the universal signs of someone (or something!) working against you.
Call it being cursed, jinxed, goofered, hexed, crossed -- it doesn't matter, the symptoms are always the same. The symptoms of being on the receiving end of a curse tend to fall into three different categories: Psychological, Anatomical, and External.
Like any good demonologist or occultist will tell you, the easiest path of destructive entry for any spirit or energy is through your mind.
The spirits or energies set to cause harm may cause the following mental symptoms to occur:
Nightmares: As our conscious mind rests our subconscious mind processes and plays out the inner dialogue of the psyche. This is the time for the curse to be most active, as our watchful guard is down and we cannot consciously process or control our experience. Do not be alarmed when you encounter occasional nightmares - those are perfectly natural. The persistent nightmares carrying the same theme or subject matter are the ones to cause concern. Consistent night terrors, all generally carrying the same theme, typically indicate early stages of a curse that is about to plague your life.
The Witch's New Moon is when the very first crescent or sliver of the moon is visible. This is typically 2-3 nights after the Dark Moon.
With some variations, the Witch’s New Moon rises in the daytime before noon and becomes visible in the day sky. It will be most visible at sunset and usually sets well before midnight. The Witch’s New Moon is the same illumination percentage all over the world - both in the Northern and Southern Hemisphere. However, which way the tips of the Witch’s New Moon point depends on the time, date and your location on Earth.
The Witch's New Moon is the ideal time to begin spellwork that draws a life experience, physical possession or situation to you. This can be for love, money, health or personal development.
Spells are best performed for 3-12 consecutive days. This is what leads to powerful, lasting and measurable results. Starting candle burning rituals 3 night after the Dark Moon will give you exactly 12 days of rituals, leading up to the Full Moon.
It is also the ideal time to begin a new venture, get married, apply for a job or embark on a journey. The same energetic attributes apply throughout the Waxing Moon, all the way up to the Full Moon.

When the moon cannot be seen and is in the dark phase, this is referred to as the Dark Moon in Old World Witchcraft. Modern astronomers and astrologers call this darkness the New Moon, because the cycle of the moon is about to restart.
Old World Witches are not the only ones who follow this Dark Moon terminology. Several ancient cultures (such as Islam) define this period as the end of the month and the very first crescent of the moon (Witch's New Moon) as the beginning of the month.
The Dark Moon is a night of stillness, contemplation and banishment. The only types of rituals that should be done on the Dark Moon is banishment work or curses/hexes. The Dark Moon is also ideal for all types of divination, as well as working with the departed. The moon is energetically at its lowest point, and is is more conducive to the mentioned rituals.

Question: "I would love to know your thoughts on performing magick during Mercury Retrograde. Is it true that spellwork performed during this period is guaranteed to fail/will backfire on you? What about performing love spells during this time?" -Melanie, Lubbock, TX
Witch Responds: To cut to the chase: NO, it is absolutely not true.
Retrogrades are a normal and, of course, perfectly natural occurrence. At almost all moments of the year, one or more planets are in retrograde. Mercury has simply been in the pop culture spotlight because of how strongly it impacts technology, communication and travel. Of course, these things we always notice in our modern daily lives.
